In the past week, we have had a pair of ducks - a male and female - that have made our street their new home. The female "mommy duck" (as Lorielle has named her) is injured and can't waddle very well. The male "daddy duck" (as Lorielle has named him) has stayed by her side the entire time. We have seem them fly, but not far - basically only far enough to "get away" if someone gets too close. Each time we go out, we look for them and see where they have decided to "hang out" for the day. This morning we opened our garage... and there they were... in our front yard. Of course, Lorielle was thrilled... and ran for the crackers. We feed them, gave them a bowl of water... and watched them throughout the day. Bob called to see if there was an agency available to rescue the female and repair the injury. We went out this afternoon to see if we could find them, and they were gone. Of course, Lorielle was very disappointed... but, we explained someone came to help her so that she can return to our lake with all of her friends.
Devoted "Daddy Duck"
Such a cute little pair!
Lorielle - Our little "animal lover". She asks us constantly to take her to the animal shelter so she can help take care of the animals there. We haven't yet... we are not quite prepared to become the "Tweedy Rescue" for unwanted cats and dogs...

Watching from the sidelines...
"I have to go to the movies, but I'll be back!"
Papa helping out!
Poor "Mommy Duck"!
Having a little snack.
And, of course... as we tucked Lorielle into bed... we prayed for our duck family!
