Red, White, & Blue

Celebrating Our Independence!
4th of July 2009

Our morning started with a "bang"... well, actually an annoying alarm clock at 5:30 a.m. We headed to Temecula's Sports Park to reserve a parking spot for later in the evening. So so early... but it was definitely worth it! It saved us the two mile trek up the hill with two very tired children after the fireworks. After that... we ate breakfast... headed to the pool for a few hours... ate lunch... and we all four took a nap (yes!). And then it was time... we were on our way for our annual family tradition... picnic in the park as we wait for the firework show! Fun, fun, fun! Grandma and Grandpa surprised Lorielle and Logan at the last minute and said they would join us. YAY! What would 4th of July be without Grandma and Grandpa?

My Red, White, and Blue Firecrackers!

Hold still Logan... just one more picture!
Cool Dude!
As we stepped out of the car... Lorielle and Logan instantly made friends with two Police Officers. They gave them a sticker badge... which they were quite proud of!

Once we found our "spot" (in the shade - lucky us!)... Logan immediately decided he would "celebrate his independence" and test the boundaries! Of course, he was fascinated with the yellow caution tape a big group next to us were using. His favorite spot to hang out? On the "wrong" side of the caution tape. Yes, he is our lil' "tester".
Of course, he couldn't come without McQueen, Tow-Mater, and his firetruck.

My handsome 4th of July men.

And my lil' Miss Independent!

Sour filled licorice... MMM'mmm!
Logan's Independence Game: Walk away from our spot... all the while watching Mommy and Daddy's eyes flashing "Stop Logan!" Each time he would walk just a step or two farther than the last time... and then run to Daddy and up in the air he would fly!
Playing Go Fish with Grandma!

Swing'n!

Logan found a "special spot" in the grass... a concrete lid... and this became his "territory" and didn't want to share it with anyone.
Making friends... but, also "guarding" his "spot".

Sneak'n a sip of Daddy's Coke. (And it just so happened there was a bee in the can that landed on Logan's nose!)
More swing'n.
Playing Old Maid with Daddy.
Sharing popcorn with Grandma.
... and more popcorn... he must have taken the bag from Grandma.
My lil' 4th of July Fashionista... notice her "earrings".
Making friends! Logan had so much fun with this little boy. His name is Dillon and he is 2 yrs. 5 months. Dillon's mommy told him not to go on the other side of the caution tape, too... however, Logan would lift up the tape and wave Dillon through. Oh Buddy! T-R-O-U-B-L-E!
My lil' man being ever so polite... "Excuse me, this is my spot." ... NOT!!! It was more like... "This is mine!" ...
There he goes again! By the end of the night... the group inside the caution tape playing volleyball called Logan their "number one fan!".
"Hold on Missy... you may just take flight!"
Thankfully, Logan won't be going anywhere with the windmills pointed to the ground!
Settling in... getting a lil' bit tired... and definitely ready for the fireworks. (Lorielle that is! Logan is still on the move!).

What a fun 4th of July! Next year... same plan... except... we will be taking caution tape... and maybe just maybe... Logan will stay inside our circle! If not... a "leash" may be on the list. Just kidding!
