If you ask Bob what his favorite sport is... he will tell you NASCAR! Jimmie Johnson #48... (however, I say Jeff Gordon #24 all the way!). The NASCAR season begins in February and ends in November and during that time they only race TWICE at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. So... going to the races is a BIG DEAL in our house! We bought tickets months and months ago and asked Grandma and Grandpa to reserve the date on their calendar to watch the kiddos. We went during Labor Day Weekend and it was SO HOT, it was almost unbearable... 117 degrees when we stepped out of the car... never mind sitting in the stands right under the blazing sun! We were so looking forward to going in February, as we thought the weather would be absolutely perfect. Well... nature had other plans! They began forecasting rain 10 days priors to the race, so Bob became the "weather doppler stalker". I really didn't think we would have much to worry about because the forecasters never seem to be right. Well, we woke up to pouring rain Sunday morning... and we knew qualifying had been cancelled on Friday and the Stater Bros. 300 had been cancelled Saturday... so, the tone in our house was a bit "grim". We headed to the Speedway anyway, praying for sunshine all the way! Of course, it was pouring rain when we pulled into the parking lot! Bob looked at me as we were preparing to get out of the car and said "and you curled your hair this morning?" ... too funny! Oh well... we were there to have fun... and a "little" rain wasn't going to stop us. My hood went up, Bob's Jimmie Johnson hat went on, out came the umbrella, jackets... and trash bags to sit on... and off we went. By the time we made it through the gates, we were both wet... but, still having fun! Race time was at 12:30 and we still had 2 hours to try and stay dry - and pray for sunshine. Just about 12:30, the sun started to peek through, the rain stopped... and they began drying the track. And we waited, and waited, and waited! The race finally started at 3:30, but the red flags came back out almost immediately. Between 3:30 and 6:30, they were able to run 87 laps, but with several delays. It was hardly a "race"... I think they lapped just as many times behind the pace car as they did racing... and then came the rain AGAIN! So, we left... in total disappointment. We heard on the radio that they were going to try and finish after 8pm... but, 8pm turned into 9pm and finally at 11pm, they officially postponed the race until Monday. MONDAY... a work day... oh well! We still had fun... but, it would have been nice to also see the race!
The sun is peeking through the clouds... YAY!!! **SMILE**

Pit Row again.
